@TradeScared I'm proud of you for sticking with $FENG. I gave up on it yesterday and finally covered. I hope it does what it should have done a week ago and you make $1 a share. You're an inspiration.

-$112 loss FENG Long Stock

Entry comments: I dip bought this recent runner that spiked all the way to the 4.80s and now had a quick low volume selloff, my goal is for it to get back to the 4.80s or even low 5s would be ideal, Friday spikers are speculative though so I could easily be wrong too

Exit comments: No bounce off that morning panic so I'm out with a small loss which is acceptable, rule #1 from http://tim.ly/thebestrules is to cut losses quickly, don't let small mistakes turn into potential big disasters

Woke up this morning a little late (stupid west coast) and opened my scanner to look at $FENG that I thought was interesting last week. It was doing nothing, so I opened up my scanner and saw $ARCI was streaking with 80% gains. I checked the chart and saw that we got some good news a couple of hours ago. I figured this is an earnings winner, volume looked good, price was hovering around $1.10. I missed the initial spike up, but I've never traded before, so I thought this would be a cheap lesson in how to enter orders into etrade, get a feel for execution, etc. I tried at $1.10, missed, $1.11, missed, then did $1.12 limit good-for-day, and it got executed at $1.10. Just a few short minutes later, I saw it touch $1.30, thought that would be a good time to sell, put in a limit at $1.33 and within moments, I was up 20%. Granted, my position size was super duper small (education > profits) and the fees took most of it out, but there we go. Now I have a better feel for the system, but this was luck and I know it. #hhtm

Tim Big Thank You! This stock was at $12 high in the pas 90 days. Dear guys and everyone here, and Tim too... do you think this is a long one to hold? I just bought it for $3400 worth of it, if it goes up to $6 or $9 in the next 2-3 weeks - I will be very happy, haha. Does anyone know if this is long one or just make a bit profit and get rid of it before it hits $2.00?

@MichaelGoode Looking for a little guidance as I am trying to figure out where I am going wrong with my trades. Shorted $FENG, day 3 overextension, good volume around 3.80 market open. Risked off r/g. Looking for the momentum shift. Re-shorted risking off the Feb. spike. Losses both times. Was my mistake a) shorting earnings; b) shorting after move went r/g; or c) not enough over extension. Hope you can help or point me in some direction. Thanks

I think your first short was fine -- shorting a gap down on an overextended stock, although it was not ideal that it had not had a big up day the prior day. After it went green though it probably would've been best to just stay away from shorting

-$128 loss FENG Long Stock

Entry comments: I dip bought this earnings winner from yesterday, it can still spike, goal is to sell in the low to mid 4s, but be ready because it moves QUICKLY, cut losses quickly if it can't go red-to-green on the day

Exit comments: No bounce, overall market dropping so rule #1 cut losses quickly, no biggie, it's still holding support so maybe it's a delayed morning spiker, but I was aiming for fast breakout over yesterdays high's, worth a shot given the quick spike potential, DCTH a better choice so far

@jordanlesson better study hard. STT just had a good article about stoicism. Although it doesn't have anything to do with stocks, the biggest obstacle is usually controlling ourselves.

Would this have been considered buying a green to red stock on the day? Previous days close was $3.94.

Why not wait until the stock went green at $3.94 and then enter?
