@Kody I understand that is really hard to be happy with only 3% gain on 300$ position, but this is the way to consistency. You first have to find patteren that works cosistantly for you. Because when you will have big account 3% gain will still be good "break even trade" and 10% gain will great trade. All I am trying to say don't focus to make 10% every time, better less gain than a loss. At least try it for 2 week and see if it is any difference in final result.

@wannabestocktrader Ty. This post was actually from end of Dec, I just edit some words today when I read it again, because I had bad month in March (-1,5K$). Trying to learn to trade NASDAQ but it is very hard for me. First red month after 5 green, but manage to get better in last 2 weeks, we will see what will I do in April. Will update soon.

love the transparent insight. I completely understand what you mean by cut out the noise in the chatroom. The challenge chatroom definitely cuts a lot of the bs

Sounds like you already know what you did wrong. Greed set in and you wanted more.

Yea just by looking back again and again trying to figure this out and yes you're right good sir I got very greedy..

A bit harder with the smaller possitions but nothing wrong with selling a quater or half the position on a nice move up and moving the mental stop loss up.

Great trade, but just remember to take profits and don't be greedy, singles add up.

IB is very strict about this. If you use all available day trades you are pretty much restricted from taking any sort of position even if your intentions are to overnight/swing. I ran into the same issue and the solution is open as cash account with IB as there is no PDT you just have to manage your buying power

@BASSxMASTER thanks for the reply. I try to do more overnight trades until I'm out of PDT.

@Kody Thanks. Cash account is not an option for me. I want to be able to short-sell and to use more buying power to wnter higher priced stocks. I will study up on overnight holds and short-term swings.

You can also open up a sub account and transfer some of your funds over to that. So you have two trading accounts, allows you to get around the PDT but buying power limited but the amount you split up.

suretrader is good for otc stocks, but etrade and interactive brokers has good shorting lists. I am 26 years old and wonder if i can open an account with 3000 USD at interactive brokers?

And of course - practice paper trading to get used to charts, buying/selling and indicators. A few months of that will help you build confidence and familiarize yourself with everything

Keep at it Paul. #2, Controlling your emotions is key. It's part of the learning curve. I am 6months in & lower in the red than ever.... I'm still learning and working to be better. Best of success in this marathon!

If you want to look at a good dip buy opportunity, look at ZSAN - A strong momentum stock - NVIV had only spiked the day before. Therefore unless if NVIV had gapped up again premarket, I would just move onto a new stock. I hope it helps :)

@mannieb That does help. I guess I didn't take into account that NVIV just gapped, but still had no volume after the huge gap-up. Gotta learn something every day. Thanks!

Yeah you described part of my mental battle before getting myself to hit the buy button. Fear of being wrong and failure is what gets me. Like you said keep your position size small. Personally I'm more mad at myself for psyching myself out of a trade vs making a plan, entering the trade and sticking to it regardless of the outcome.

Nodrog
Nodrog Feb 07, 18 9:06 AM

@alexg0930 This is the way to go. The thing is that I know this. That's why I made the plan to reduce my size in the first place. And yet, I let the potential of bigger profits spoil that plan by thinking about bigger size. Great to see that others are making great progress with this strategy! Thanks!

Nodrog
Nodrog Feb 07, 18 9:08 AM

@Kody Exactly! That's how I feel, too! So, small size it is. Sounds so simple.

Nodrog
Nodrog Feb 07, 18 9:26 AM

@alexg0930 I totally agree! BTW, I like your video about using 60min charts. This also helps to take some of the emotion out of the trade (I guess).
