I've learned over the past year the importance of concentration when I'm in a position. You need to have complete focus (100%) and avoid ALL distractions until fully exited.
This morning I was focused in on $CAPR during the gap down, A+ setup right there. However, I started to run into issues beginning with fills on my open orders. That was a bit aggravating. But even more so my brokerage software completely froze up after the market open. Literally was out of commission for almost 2 minutes, that's damn scary with an open position. Once I was able to get everything back up and running my mind was racing and any focus/trade plan I had was completely a blur. I ended up cutting my trade out of random fear due to this event.
My point is that when trading it is upmost important to avoid any kind of distractions/issues especially on the technical side. Unfortunately this was out of my hand as it was the software acting up. But due to this technical issue, everything else suffered including my thought out trade plan which would have worked. But, need to accept it already happened and move on.
Soon I will be upgrading my technical setup with a new computer and more monitors which should help alleviate some issues such as limited screen space and outdated hardware. I've learned about a few trading technology setups/recommendations (computers, etc.) over the past few months that can help in the future for anyone that is serious about taking it a step further as a possible career. I'll share those tech specs in a future blog.
