Brutal Week. My long term retirement account that are index funds are getting hit a bit. Holding strong since they are compounding with DRIPS. My Trading / learning account that I report here is doing just fine.

@AverageTrader I am currently in USA, GLO, RIV, QYLD, DMO in one Account. I change those out once a year looking for closed end funds that are discounted and should move up. That account is up that one every year. In the Roth IRA account I have PCM, DDF, PTY. The Roth IRA has earned 20% since it was opened 3 years ago. I have not changed those funds. Overall I am up 28% in 3 years. That is roughly 9% a year. Beats any bank.

My retirement accounts have come back with a vengeance this year. I am earning an average of 9% a year on those 2 accounts. Much better than what a bank wants to give me on CD interest. Leave it to me to fuck up my trading account...lol. From 38K down to 32kish.

I don't need much to retire on. I have 2 out of 3 houses paid off :) I refuse to keep owning more as I see my friends who should be retired working themselves to the bone because they like the control. I'm too lazy and just like to live simply. I only need half million in the bank to live off the interest. I will have a pension coming in and social security when I retire in the a few years with 5 streams of income that will allow me to live comfortably at the beach in Puerto Vallarta with my gir

Retirement is 3 years away at the age of 57, yay. Everything is almost in place and child raised. I plan on lots of travel, getting back into my art and music, living at the beach, lots of fishing, no stress, and of course trading stocks. No regrets and nothing I would have changed in my life as a public servant who helped many people. My soul is almost golden...lol.

My trading and music recording space. Making music and trading options are visually similar to me. Watching a ticker and candles on a chart is like watching notes roll by on a music sheet.

Just opened an Interactive Broker Account. Etrade was killing me on options fees. On hold with IB until funds settle. This gives me some time to study the platform.

After taking a 5 year hiatus dealing with personal issues, I have returned to trading. I am totally transparent with my trading here.I am primarily an options trader. I find the gains can be greater using leverage, but also the losses can be greater if you don't pay attention. I started with 84k in my account and keep 80% invested in index funds that pay 7-11% interest that reinvest (compounding). I keep the other 20% in cash to trade options. I have learned to use strict money management and try to cut my losses timely. I am comfortable with trading only a few stocks I know and branching out on other ideas. I will take time off to reassess any loss. I stay very disciplined. I have learned I suck at timing Dow Jones options as they move too fast and this is where I have lost the most money. I will scalp some quick day trades on stocks that have quick run-ups on bogus news or go long into heavy volume on legit news. These are typically a sure thing.
