This is probably a dumb question but it's something that I am unable to figure out when paper trading.
Today, when paper trading $RKDA, I set a limit buy order for $40. The bid hit $40 and continued to drop below 39.90 whilst the Ask was 4.20 but I never got filled. Basically my order was stuck in the middle of the spread and other orders are being filled at 3.90 and below. Does this happen often? Would I have been filled on the bid price when it went below $40 in the real stock world or do you always have to get the fill on the ask when you limit buy? What are the chances of getting filled on the bid usually?
With the spread so big today it really matters a lot.
Thank you in advance.
