@rugby I think I owe you an apology, I know my responses to your were somehow harsh, I perceived your comments as a put down, therefore my reaction, you know these msg board are full of trolls. Achieving perfection(Is there such an animal) in trading is difficult, takes time and so far is one of my goals, meanwhile I am concentrating in picking just the direction of the ticker. Great post. In my case I prefer not to paper trade but to buy just a few shares instead. With unreal money I think I would over trade and I would absolutely avoid to control my emotions as they may not be real because I have nothing to lose.

Papertrade: bought 100 shares of PTCO @ $2.30, held support @ $2.29 yesterday. Could re-spike today on yesterday's news

@rugby congrats on the 1 million, Im still trying to understand your style but do you just wait for a pattern to form during the day or wait until it breaks out of a pattern to buy? %99.86 is insane, your a smart guy

Part chart, part history, part art. I try to find the breakout as it is happening based on historic cycles of leveraged ETFs. Running a long hold is often fool's play because they move so quickly, if you can surf wave to wave, you can catch multiple buy opportunities and multiple sell opportunities. Thanks! TNA eclipsed $100/share and didn't split. DUST is far cheaper and moves similarly.

Hey Rugby, congrats on passing the $1 million mark! With your subscription, I hope to pass $1 million in 2017. Since joining you in July '16, I've made over $300K at that just in one account! I just don't understand why people would trade penny stocks when they can just follow you! Your dedicated subcriber, Teri

@rugby Trying to get an understanding of your trading style, your longer term positions seem to fit my risk appetite and preference a bit more than other styles I've seen. Do you use any indicators? Even something as simple as a 200 SMA, or are you strictly clean chart support/resistance levels only? Thanks.

Tactik
Tactik Nov 14, 16 9:11 PM

@rugby would the Elliot Wave Theory be one of those cycles or something similar to it?

Most stuff out there is too slow for leveraged ETFs, my goal is to get in and out with $500 to $1000 gain in as short as time as possible using 1000 shares+/-. Any charting technique is going to show you what you should have done after you should have done it. Longer plays, sure, give it a go BUT you will miss lots of $$$ while you wait for the longer move. My technique is a blend of charting, history and feel for the ETF

Do you just call and ask for lower commission fees?

Arussell125
Arussell125 Nov 10, 16 10:22 PM

Told them i trade way more than 15 times or ao a quarter and needed a better comm structure

JohnathonG
JohnathonG Dec 22, 16 2:59 PM

Did you ever figure out this issue? I don't see how your commissions were $160? 4.95/trade x2 is $10 + $30 ECN fees = ~$40 in commissions. What else were you charged? I have been using them for a couple of weeks now and agree with Arick that you need to win a bit bigger to cover the costs of trading with them. I too have had greed days that turn into red days because of fees. Sucks, but part of the game of getting around PDT. Hope things have gotten better for you since this!

rugby
rugby Sep 16, 16 10:16 AM

I had my losses in 2009, before I started posting on here. I have an occasional loss when I fat finger a limit order but it's all about how far you let the trades run and I am pretty tight on my limit orders

@rugby Hey there,I'm really impressed on how successful you are becoming at trading stocks. I'm new to profit.ly and have never traded before. But I do have knowledge about penny stocks since I have seen several videos and read many things from Timothy Sykes. Can you give me some good tips on how I should start trading? Tell me every step so I can get started?I would prefer to learn from people like you who have mastered the stock market!

rugby
rugby Sep 07, 16 4:11 PM

I wasn't good at penny stocks so I went to what I was good at, leveraged ETFs, nice volatility without window shopping, just pick you entry and exits!

TraderRooki
TraderRooki Sep 07, 16 4:45 PM

Very interesting. How would i start leveraging ETFs, and how much capital will i need to start with

rugby
rugby Sep 07, 16 5:21 PM

I have played with almost every size account from $500 to $2.5 million, smaller accounts require longer hold time OR smaller gains per trade, I choose smaller gains usually and get more of them.

Thanks for your transparency, please update your trades on here so we can see what you're doing right and wrong...and NEVER follow anyone's alerts as I warn every single day...you don't need other Challenge students, you need more preparation

conciouswarrior
conciouswarrior Jul 26, 16 4:00 PM

@timothysykes I learned the lesson of following very early on, as far as other students go I find it helpful for me to not work in a vacuum. I prepare every night and get up at 5 AM to look at my plans, re-evaluate the previous picks and add new picks, by looking at catalysts, and key supports on different time scales. I'm good at picking the right stocks just not executing. I'll upload all the trades later tonight. Again thanks for all your hard work!

rugby Jul 26, 16 5:17 PM

I started trading before taking Tim's course and then took Tim's class for a new point of view. I found out I didn't like shorting and I didn't like penny stocks BUT I found what I like and those are leveraged ETFs, fast trades, good momentum, wild volatility, no stock picking and I got VERY good at it. I do it EVERY day and I really enjoy what I do.

rugby

I look at it like this: Do I want to work 3 or 4 part-time jobs and like some and hate others OR do I want to do REALLY good at one? I liken stock pickers to people with 3 or 4 jobs hoping one hits. For me, TNA is my full-time job and a vehicle to be precise in my trading with, no guessing!

I find that Whole Numbers generally act as Resistance or Support depending on which side you trade

Pandabear
Pandabear Jul 11, 16 7:43 PM

@petwyt1218 I know it's easy to see in hindsight but if you draw the trend lines you can see the dip buy easily. It dips then it breaks the channel or flag. And it if it's right at support it's a even safer bet.

Pandabear
Pandabear Jul 11, 16 7:46 PM

@rugby Agreed. Best time to buy was in the morning or late afternoon when the patterns are clearer and there's dip buying opps. It's a kind've of guessing game midday as anything can happen.

Pandabear
Pandabear Jul 11, 16 7:48 PM

If you look at the chart, 10:30am, 11:30am and 3pm was the best time to buy. If you're working not around in the morning or late afternoon it's best to sit in cash.
