@Y_Santana Hey! how do you still manage to post trades with Interactive brokers? it's no longer supported, thanks!

I use TC2000 as my trading platform. TC2000 use Interactive brokers. I never had any issue posting my trades. To post my trades I used the login information from my account on TC2000. So I am not sure if the information is straight interactive brokers or from TC2000.

I don't know if it's easier (I just type code from the card and that is) cuz IB sent me this plastic card when I registered my account. You can try message them and ask them if it possible to send this card but I am not sure if this help you resolve the situation.

@Chopper_Trader Hey, I tried to change password with IB but it still wont let me import lol. I don't know how it still works with you. I get a message on profitly saying "IB is no longer supported" very frustrating.

tommyvercetti55 May 14, 19 7:37 PM

Yes it's 8 letters. thats the minimum allowable amount.

tommyvercetti55
tommyvercetti55 May 14, 19 7:40 PM

After I do the 2 steps verification and authenticate profitly tries to import but then it says "error occurred while downloading"

Chopper_Trader
Chopper_Trader Jun 10, 19 7:13 PM

You can't use the 2 step verification method.

Yes It works, make sure your password is under 8 characters

tommyvercetti55
tommyvercetti55 Apr 02, 19 4:21 AM

I've tried to reset the password under 8 characters but the minimum length is actually 8 /: Sucks that IB doesn't allow verification with profitly. I guess I'll be using tradervue from now on.

@MichaelGoode Hi Michael, I was wondering if you are able to trade OTC grey market stocks with IB? It's not letting me, saying "Trading in OTC grey market stocks is not supported". Really frustrating. Is there any solutions for this? Thanks!

There is no way around this -- if you have a position in a grey-market stock at IB they will let you call the trade desk to close it out. But they won't let you open new positions in grey market stocks. If for whatever reason you want to trade grey market stocks you will have to use another broker.

@MichaelGoode Hi Michael. You mention on your blog that you do not use TWS anymore, but you are still using Interactive Brokers. I was just wondering if you are using DAS connected with IB or a different broker for the charts and L2 but use IB to execute orders. Thank you.

I don't know where I would have said that -- I still use TWS. I do use DAS Pro with Centerpoint for level 2 and charts

tommyvercetti55
tommyvercetti55 Sep 26, 18 3:04 PM

Oh sorry, I didn't read that carefully. You replied to someone on your blog that you still use TWS but not time and sales and L2. Do you think DAS level 2 and time and sales is more accurate than IB's?

MichaelGoode
MichaelGoode Sep 27, 18 9:44 AM

TWS L2 & time and sales is just as good but I have always considered TWS charts ugly. I have used them in the past but I just find it easier to use DAS Pro and I have to pay for those charts / L2 anyway whereas I don't have to pay for the IB L2 if I don't want it

@MichaelGoode Hey Michael, I'm trying to see which fee structure is better for pennies. Tiered or Fixed (interactive brokers) Have you used both fee structure? If yes which one is best to choose? Thank you in advance.

MichaelGoode

MichaelGoode Jun 18, 18 1:28 PM

Either tier structure is expensive for cheap stocks (particularly under $1 per share). I recommend tiered if you buy on the bid and sell on the ask more often than not

tommyvercetti55
tommyvercetti55 Jun 19, 18 2:00 AM

Thanks Michael, I'm guessing tiered fee structure is best if you add liquidity to the market, and get rebates on that?

MichaelGoode
MichaelGoode Jun 19, 18 9:59 AM

Yes, if you add liquidity then tiered is best and overall it will be cheaper

@ilikebbstock Hi! I have a question. On thinkorswim Level 2 do you see all the market makers ID with OTC stocks? ex: ARCA, MICA, CSTI, ASCM, ect.. because It only shows me OTC OTHER for otc stocks, but I can see all MMID for listed stocks. Thanks!

@ilikebbstock Hello! I noticed that sub-penny stocks are your niche and it's where you're most profitable, how did you stumble upon them, and are there any difference in trading to a non sub-penny stock? I am just asking because I could easily put $50 on a stock and easily make 300% tripling my investment. I find that quite impressive, thanks!

tommyvercetti55
tommyvercetti55 Feb 15, 18 8:04 PM

Thanks for your reply, I've got so many questions about them, but my main 2 are those, Is it even possible to short those stocks? You really need to be so sure before shorting them lol. And, what do you consider a small float? I usually find small float a company that only has 20 million or less in shares, but in the sub-penny world you can buy 20 million shares and it could be just a 5 thousand dollar position lol, do you consider 100 million to 500 million small float? Thanks again!

ilikebbstock Feb 16, 18 1:00 PM

low float is generally under 100M for me. Shorting penny stocks, well it is done, but probably not subpennies too expensive for margin.

Hi ilikebbstock, what broker do you use?

@MichaelGoode Hey again Michael, just a quick question, is it a good idea to use Interactive Brokers to trade stocks under a dollar? They charge a per share fee for Canadians ( CAD 0.01 per share, Minimum order $1) and I was thinking if I was to trade tens of thousand to hundreds of thousand of shares of an OTC/NASDAQ stock would the commission fees take most of my profits? I'm kind of confused here whether I should find a broker that charges a flat fee for low priced stocks or just use IB. Thanks!

MichaelGoode
MichaelGoode Jan 19, 18 9:37 AM

I use IB for low-priced stocks because most of the time I am shorting them and no brokers that have flat fee commissions will let me short stocks under a dollar but it is true that taking decent position sizes on cheap stocks will result in large commissions at IB. At least for US clients the max commission is 1% of trade value. If you do trade a lot of lower-priced stocks I recommend getting another broker for buying the cheap stocks

@tommyvercetti55 Just curious do you use TD waterhouse or TD Ameritrade. I use TD Waterhouse to trade and have no problem with CSE and I the Canadian TOS for all US listed companies

tommyvercetti55
tommyvercetti55 Jan 12, 18 11:43 PM

Thanks for the reply! I use TD Waterhouse to trade Canadian Equities, however for CSE listed stocks it doesn't show the level 2 data. I'm also in the process of opening a US margin account to trade US stocks. Do you really neeed $5000 USD minimum with TOS? Thanks!

@MichaelGoode Hi Michael, happy holidays! Just a question, have you ever used thinkorswim? It is now available for Canadian residents which is quite funny if you think about it, because TD is a Canadian bank and thinkorswim has only been available for US residents until now. As a Canadian resident I cannot use TD Ameritrade (I'm with TD direct investing) but I would like to know your opinion about the software, if its better than IB or not. Thank you! I watched almost all your youtube vids!

I used TOS for a couple years 8 years ago. The TOS software is nice but not necessarily better than IB -- it is a lot easier to learn though

@SeanLacap Greetings, I'm from Toronto and I noticed that you use Questrade. I'm thinking of opening an account with them, I just wanna hear your thoughts about Questrade, How much are you paying in fees and market data package? Is it better than bank owned brokerage stocks? Cheers!

Hey how do like interactive brokers since you left Questrade? I’m about to switch my account from td to them (Canada)
