@esfuturestrader Hey man, how did you learn about futures trading? which one of the gurus taught you this? which DVDs?

Again, this is a very simple explanation but it all boils down to price cycles which if you know anything about math and the natural order of things then fibonacci will show you the way. Start studying fibs and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Thank you so much for the explanation, I was actually going to suggest that before you mentioned it. I would absolutely be interested in checking out your material man, I think is the concepts are explained well and you include plenty of examples then I believe that plenty others would be interested in this as well, please keep me posted if you ever decide to pursue it.

I actually spent a couple of hours yesterday reading about futures, I have one more question please, how do you do fundamental analysis on an obscure product like wheat or whatever, do you just rely on technical analysis in this case?

The key is to find a few instruments that work for you and get to know them like the back of your hand. Jumping around from one future to another without understanding them and what makes them tick will get you into trouble and start stirring frustration. I trade only a few contracts. ES, CL, ZN and ZB. I'll let you look them up to see what the underlying market is. Once you live with the instruments of your choice the charts will do the rest.

5. Master your emotions, greed and fear! When you see your stocks rise you'll have visions of buying a million dollar home with that $300 you just made. Or, you'll start measuring boxes to see which ones you can live in comfortably after losing $1000. Seriously, you are your own worst enemy. Be aware of that and condition yourself to be as impartial as possible about a trade.

6. Money management. Learn about stops and % of risk you're willing to take on each trade.

@esfuturestrader What futures platform do you use?

I use TD Ameritrade for my trades and Ninja Trader for charting

hey is the ninja trader platform free live charts?

esfuturestrader
esfuturestrader Jan 29, 17 8:33 AM

There is a free version of Ninja which requires a data feed from a provider. I use TDA for stocks and options which is free. I trade mostly futures which TDA doesn't provide a data feed so I use CQG for their futures feed. It also is free for two weeks when you request it when downloading Ninja trader. Hope that helps.

Learn fibs, stick to a couple of trading instruments and get to know them intimately.

This game can be profitable if you study and apply what you've learned using baby steps. I've been trading 15 years and have lost over $200k learning. I'm now making it back after very hard lessons. Number 1 rule: Don't give up!

Again, I hope this helps. There are no short cuts to successful trading.

I don't use any "system" per se. I stick with a few trading instruments and get to know them intimately. I only trade futures, mainly ES (SP500) and CL (oil).

I'm getting allot of requests about how I trade, if I use a system or if I give signals through a service. I'm not interested in becoming a service. I will share what I know in upcoming blog posts. I'm very busy atm. Will see if I can put something together in the next week or so.

I'll give you a brain drain of how I trade and the tools I use. Fibonacci is one of two main tools I use. I only trade futures which if you only have $5000-$10000 you can actually make a decent living if you don't rush your trades. Patience is the key. Futures are not governed by day trading rules where you need $25+ to trade. I trade ES, CL, ZN and ZB. That's it. No stocks. No options. Keep it simple and get to know the beast. Trading is not rocket science. Don't try to make it more complicated
