Thanks Palmer...had CLNE tagged but @ that open i shied away...with such a small account i can't chance these even for 10% moves bc commissions eat up any gain.

Yeah, small accounts can be tough per those commissions...you'll get there...

Wow...$CLNE at almost $3.50 per share this morning. I'll 'learn' to hold over the weekend at some point...

[TimAlerts] Couldnt figure out why $TAIT is moving - but it may be to do with how they are going to pay a dividend for the first time since 2009

This will be interesting . . .

don't think you must make a trade just because you have an acount open. We all want to pull the trigger but that gun must be loaded with patience and discipline also.

I forgot to mention that when you scan for those 50K volume movers, you can scan later but change that volume to 100K movers, then 150K, etc... the later in the day (morning) the volume should be increasing so increase your volume scan also.

@HebrewHammer If you can, please can you cover how you determine that a short squeeze is occurring. Thanks.

not to hop on this guy's thread but a short squeeze is when you short a stock and the price keeps going up. The idea is the "shorts" get squeezed out of their position. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the explanation. I do actually know what a short squeeze is, I'm hoping I can get an explanation of how one can determine it's happening - either through Time and Sales or through Level 2 (if that is what is used).

@devask168 It's more about knowing when shorts are trapped after a large spike and drop whether intraday or after several days. I personally use level 2 and the charts but when something is spiking huge without a catalyst, typically its a short squeeze

careful with LGCY, this gapped up trapping a lot of shorts and then rallied into the close and in AH. If this can gap up or breakout above $3.25 tomorrow, it can squeeze like crazy so definitely be careful shorting this...Wait for it to top out, get slammed back down, bounce and then short the bounce....best way to be safe imo...otherwise great start!

@Bash thanks for the PM in the chatroom earlier. Just wondering how you determined EBIO was a short squeeze on Friday whereas NEOT today is junk? Looking at the long term graphs I'd say they were the same?

@bank_a_tronic I saw this: http://profit.ly/content/chat/5785412 in the chatroom as you posted and was reminded of it at market close. Thanks for posting - it was a really good call since it turned out to be so prophetic. Later in the day you mention "shorting at the bid" and "buying at the ask". If you have the time, do you think you can do a quick post of how you get to observe such datums?

Update: Yes, I will be putting a post on it tomorrow, Monday, in the afternoon ;)

Well, I am still waiting on STT to get back to me on my very important question regarding the Sales. (I will get into the blog posts though, a some point though.) Basically, many trades now on these volatile stocks are to try and trap shorts & create squeezes on these volatile low floats-STT shows on their Time & Sales that huge numbers on the ask are sometimes buy orders that are broken up-I have to get more info on this ;))

devask168 Apr 25, 16 11:37 PM

Ok, so you're using STT. Are there other columns in Time and Sales apart from timestamp, price and volume? Or is there a way of reading Time and Sales?

bank_a_tronic
bank_a_tronic May 01, 16 6:27 PM

No there are no other columns, it's just that the buys and sells on the L2s do not coincide: often when it looks like there are big sellers or buyers, those are buys and sells, shown in the Time and Sales as going through as in multiple buys at the ask instead of what L2 might look like a big buyer. Hope this helps. STT youtube has put some vids out & they will be putting more out in due time ;)
