@OhNo5000Bees Hi, are you located in Canada? Can Questrade do short selling? Do they have a good short stock inventory specially those below $10? thanks in advance

Hey man, yes I'm Canuckistani lol. Questrade can do shorts but I've never had much luck securing them, even on blue chips. I suppose you'd have to call them to clarify. I'm no shorter anyway so I haven't looked into it. You're probably better off going with IB Canada or Suretrader. I have a tiny account which I opened before I knew about Suretrader and that's pretty much only reason I'm with Questrade.

@The_Peoples_Champ Congrats! May I know how do you monitor/know an intraday breakout within the day like what happened to MTSL and YOD? are you a member of tim's alert? or are you monitoring the press release? and how do you monitor the quick press release? Thank you

I monitor intraday breakouts on TheLion.com and finviz.com. They show up under highest % Gainers list. Once I see any intraday breakouts, then I look into the press releases on yahoo finance and the chart patterns and take it from there. I am not a member of tim alerts but would like to as his strategy works but unfortunately my credit cards decline every time I try to purchase his subscriptions. I wish somebody can help me there. I can pay upfront. Anyways, Good luck and be conscious while trad

hi, what do you also mean by BORROWSFEES on your dec trading? You seems have lost 7k in a trade?

Hi jayjaydagumboy. I am a member of promotionstocksecrets.com, and they provide a daily list of active stocks. Most of my trades are short sells, so I look for stocks that will go down. Usually this means finding stocks that are already up a lot that don't really deserve to be up. I find this easier than predicting what will go up.

In order to short sell a stock, you first have to borrow shares from your broker. If the stock is "hard to borrow", you have to pay a locate fee. You might also have to pay interest for holding the borrowed shares overnight. I record these fees as trades to accurately portray my profit after expenses. My $7K loss in December wasn't an actual trade, but the sum of all the locate fees and interest I paid in December. I have a similar "trade" for every month, although $7K is much larger than n

Trying to analyse my first month of trading, of course I am happy with adding 25% to my account. Still, I was up almost 3k the first 3 days, and then started swinging for everything that had made big moves. Need to be more precise in my analysis and not try to do as many trades ad possible. Need more quality! Will spend more time this month on backtracing and studying, and hopefully only take trades that count. I was holding most of my trades too long, very few I let go too early. Will also not expect the big bounces I thought I would get, but aim for probably half of those moves on my shorts. I was also very early in the days with my trades, and took full size directly. Later at the afternoons I would take slow faders from the bottom out of boredom. Should aim to not get bored, and not take faders unless they have bounced first. Short into tops and buy into dips. What I did good was hold my emotions in schack. A few times I though about changing my stops, but let them play eventually. Probably did my best trades when I stopped looking at the money action and followed the graphs instead.

*May I know how what screener do you use to monitor a stock that has significantly moved up (intraday breakout) like NERV and GALT?

Thank you! @jayjaydagumboy I'm still new to this, so hoping I will not blow it all up. My main scanner is TC2000 platinum, but for some of these I use yahoo finance "early movers" before market open to see what is up.

@StockRealist Hi StockRealist, how do you manage emotionally when going short for a very long time like what you did with IGPK last May 7-14? How do you monitor and decide to buy the stocks a few more days after?
