If a stock is up on the day look for it to break basic levels of resistance. Did you by chance get HTMM?

If it already went up a couple dollars on the day off of good news I wouldn't even bother purchasing it it might drop right after you purchase..

Like tim says your timing isn't going to be perfect. keep watching the trades as frequently seeing the pattern will give you a rough guide as to when to get in/out of the trade. I recommend getting in with a reduced risk size until you've picked it up.
