@cbarrow17x Thank you for the add, are you new to the community?

Yes I am new. been playing around with lotto ticket trades for a couple years with no success in a small account. Got fed up with watching gains and then losing it all that I actually closed my trading account a year or so ago. Now i am trying to get serious and LEARN instead of buy hold and hope..Was skeptical about this but figured I could spend $300 and see what it was all about so I got HTMM and have already learned so much just from the first few sections as well as this blog board.

@cbarrow17x It is definitely something (trading) that must be taking serious at all times or you will burn sooner than expected. Please feel free to check out my blog posts as they can come in handy :) all feedback welcome.

Thanks will do. I'm actually working on 20 others. Trading is a back seat for now because of my 5 month old son. I'm doing the web thing instead for now.

@Mainetradah the idea behind any trade is to have confirmation levels that you have in mind as part of the plan, if they do not play as anticipated, just exit and cut losses right away, start a new one, the trade and planned. Just remember that volume and volatility are you friends, it comes down to reading the chart and applying your plan at all times, even if you are wrong.

Thanks mang! I hope you nail some big winners soon you seem to have good consistency but no crazy p/l. Why aren't your profits larger with such consistency?

@Mainetradah a pleasure, always here to help out! Thanks, reason why I played it safe and with such a small size is because I like to test ideas/patterns first before shooting for a bigger position size, so I did not want to burn myself so quickly and go under the PDT. But I am planning to start trading more as I did stop after I started working for a company. I will be focusing on pure longs - ABCD, Daily/Intraday breakouts, Grind/Perk. Feel free to follow me :)

Welcome man! good luck! if you plan on getting around or less than 1k shares most of the time, IB is cheaper at .005 per share, unlike Suretrader, even if you only want like 600 shares (with IB thats $3) and with suretrader, that trade might not be worth it after commsions. If you are worried about pdt you can also open a Robinhood account. On a cash account NO PDT. And no fees at all. Good luck!

Haha yea man, i thought i was grinding out good, breaking evem most times, until the fees came in haha @TechnicalTicker

@yawnabit I bet, I was going to start with SureTrader, but after I ran some numbers - commissions, fees, platform cost, withdrawal fees; it was not worth it (for me personally). Trading alone has enough emotions, so all these little things add emotion alone because you are kind of force to trade to make sure that having the account just active/open is worth the cost. So I decided to save a bit more and just go straight to Interactive Brokers.

Smart move, i got that apifany AFTER i put most my money in suretrader, i use their free platform tho, TOS/STT are what i use for charts. I just know IB will be my next broker when i get the chance, and yea exactly, adds a lot of emotion, especialy starting out.

I also (paper) trade in school. I usually trade with my phone or bring a laptop. Swing trades are key here, you don't want to be away from the market for too long if your trading something extremely volatile. You could also trade pre-market.

Hi @M_P_D3 I would suggest that you look into swing trading perhaps? Forcing trades just to be in a trade, while you are busy doing your school work can be very distracting and risky as you will not be putting full attention into your trades. Star with small positions (100-200 shares) just to get your feet wet and see if the swing strategy approach works for you.

@TechnicalTicker I am at work until midnight, what time do you wake up pre-market, we could Skype before the market open? I usually don't work at night so if you want to kind of run ideas past each other at night that would be cool, like I said normally I am free.
