This sounds familiar with regards to how things played out for me. The chat room can be very distracting but still there is some good info on tickers in there that show up per what someone else is watching. But yes, when you start to focus on the 'basics' of patterns or catalysts such as earnings it helps smooth things out somewhat. Everyone has those obstacles to overcome. It's those traders with the determination to do things correct are what sets them apart.
I know what you mean. Sometimes I have to turn off the chat room and just focus on what I have in front of me. Don't get me wrong...the chat room has a ton of useful information and great people announcing things. But distractions are the last thing you want to have while you're trading. Patience is something I have to work on as well....let's get through this step by step together!!!
