Strong closers with good news are usually your best bet with overnight longs. Personally I like to see breakouts that can hold like $CYCC today is a very good example. For overnight shorts if you are confident with shorting, first red day on a hot stock seems to work the best right now. Hope this helps. Watch Tim's videos and you will learn a lot about holding overnight and intraday both.

@SJTrades yeah I'm analyzing plays like CYCC and other strong o/n plays and finding similarities so I can be ready for the next time it happens. Thanks for the advice it really helps :)

Hi Bob, what are the parameters of your daily watchlist scan? and do you still use Finviz or its just STT, thanks for the videos..

I look the largest % gainers using Interactive Brokers in house screen, same with Sure Trader. I also use finviz. With STT, first thing in the morning I have volume set for 10,000 on stocks priced between $1 and $20 and an 8% move. When the market opens I change the volume parameter to 500,000 and then 1,000,000.

@bigman Thats honestly how I felt a couple weeks ago. I thought studying my ass off was bullshit. I mean it's obvious, you can only take in so much knowledge before getting plateaued. But it's about continuously studying and finding what works for YOU. For some, they might catch on quick, and for others it might take a shit ton of studying. Either way, studying is required or you're going to just lose like I did my first couple months trading.

Yea, studying is the way to go.

@DeeSniper my strategy has been pretty straight forward. Find stocks that are getting the shit kicked out of them, and get a couple lickings in myself.

@DeeSniper In particular I look for beat down stocks to have a morning spike, then I short into the lower high while risking off the high. Check out CLF for the past couple weeks. You'll see what I mean.

HRB was another one I've been watching the last two days. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play because I was out of day trades. You can see how that chart follows this pattern too.

Thanks was curious. I've never shorted. Decided to go long 1 yr before I try shorts. But I'm learning about it.

Stop paper trading, that is BS. Use your own $$ and work on your trading skill.
