Hi smyth10- when did you begin the challenge? I'm fairly new, started in Feb. I still have a few DVDs to go, but excited to start with a few "morning dip buys" when the SECs make me sleepy, or the Level 2s become a blur. Congrats on finishing them all!

Hi Roland, I was going to ask Grittani in Chat room, but this was the play you used to grow your small account (still speaking of "First" Green Day). If you don't have time to respond- no worries- I'm just vocalizing my understandings, and thought you might confirm/clarify: Looking at ticker $SMRT, we see a mix of some green and red days, leading into today's (let's assume it holds and gives us a strong upward trend closing near HOD) big green day. In this case, this does not seem to be as strong of a chart pattern for buying "FGD" to hold O/N for next day morning spike (compared to $NVIV), because it is already so extended beyond previous lows. Would you say $NVIV is a nice chart pattern because it is coming up from such lows, whereas $SMRT is less impressive (not as great of a play) because it's been going up since mid March (<-- THAT first green day would have been a good play)? I realize this is all hypothetical, and having a catalyst would be ideal, but am I correct in seeing $NVIV as the stronger play of the two ($SMRT)?

Hi, no problem with the chat help- I am a newbie myself. I find the best way to solidify the learnings (for me, anyway) is to discuss and bounce ideas off others . I've also wondered about FGD- what constitutes the "first"? For example, if there are five days of green, then a small-blip red day (or even two little red days)- then another big green day after- is that a "first" green day? Or does FGD only ever follow a string of some nasty (big) red days.... still learning! Cheers

@juliacyeager I would try again to get a different agent. I didn't even fund my account yet. I told them I wanted to test the platform before signing up with them, and they allowed me access. I would try again and be insistent. Let them know that the reason that you signed up is because of their desktop platform, and you require access to it if you are to stay with them as a broker :-) Best of luck!

@ForDaBirds Hi- if you had a moment- do you know who you spoke with to get E Trade Pro for free? The person I spoke with today said I would have access to OptionsHouse (which she described as E Trade Pro except it's all online, w/o customizable platform window like Pro)- unless I made 60+ trades per quarter- THEN I would have free access to E Trade pro. ForDaBirds do you think I could just try to IM the right person, or did you gain access with trade #s? You were so helpful today- reply or no, I really appreciate your help earlier today! My account is open, and I got 5 free trades because I called in and ASKED! Can't hurt to ask ;)

Hello again ForDaBirds! I'm chugging along in the Challenge- still mostly observing/consuming DVDs- and I had an update question for you about Etrade Pro! So, I had access to ETrade Pro WITH data for a good three months, then the trial ended. I notice I still have access to the platform for free, but no data feed. Did you have the same thing happen? I can pay something like $36 per month for all data feed- NOT BAD!! But I'm also a penny pincher ("every dollar counts) and I wonder if somehow

Not sure if my question got cut off from comment- Should I pay the $36/mo for data, or try messaging a right agent to hook me up on another three month trial of free data again- do you still get streaming data free on the trial basis? Best, Julia :)
