Earlier today I posted this photo of my showing off $10,000...now karma got me and it's gone...at least you can learn from what I did wrong!
I'm working my butt off to finish my charity DVD 'How To Make Millions' in time for Christmas, now 18+ hours recorded, 6 more to go! Pre-order it here now and save 70% off for just the next few days...thanks to you, we've already raised $105,000 for charity! (See how I donated $2,000 worth of toys to 100+ kids here), but in truly amateur form, I just lost $10k shorting CUBA too soon and making every possible mistake in the books! At least now as I publish this it's at 13.50 so that makes me feel somewhat better...
Please watch the video below, learn from what I did wrong, understand WHY it's so important to follow the rules in these study guides (which are 50% off here the next few days only, just like these newsletters here 50-75% off)
ooooooo yeeks, but by sharing this with us is a Hugh! lesson thank you
A lot of respect for you actually creating a lesson on a big loss like this. That can be difficult to do. thank you!
Thank you Tim for posting this and your full transparency! Makes me feel a little better to see someone as skilled as you making similar mistakes that newbies like me make...not that I wish for that on anyone but helps me not beat myself up as much for my mistakes.
Thanks Tim to show the losses and let us learn from your mistakes. Some times can be difficult learn from our mistakes because we can be not enough experienced to understand them. But learn from you, from your explanations helps up a lot. ... I wish you happy holidays and an Amazing 2015.
Sorry to hear about your loss.. Thank you for the great lesson on the emotions of trading and your transparency !! Trading can be crazy.. We can know what we're doing wrong the whole time but emotions just take over. I know when I screw up I like to be able to share my mistakes with another trader so I can get it off my chest and move forward, so thank you for sharing with us.
Great lesson Tim! Never double down just cut losses quickly.
@timothysykes Tim, I was dip buying JRJC premarket this morning at 6.44 before ur allert thinking it would hold 6.40s, but it double topped at 6.60s and the moment it cracked 6.40 I took at 11c loss at 6.33. This lesson is a reminder to stick to my trading plan which I did. I shouldn't have tried to scallped JRCJ since I knew it toped out at 6.60s, but I managed to get out with a scratch, thank you for this valuable lesson of not trying to anticipate a move, but wait for it instead.
When you do lessons on your losses it proves your strengths which is why we are still here learning from you Ubersnaps! One of the most difficult lessons for me is learning to NOT trade while other obligations call-I just love trading/researching soo much. lol Pennystock Nerds Rule--- Long term Investors drool ;))
Great lesson for me. Guessing a break, let the losses run, compound the losses. I even used all margin leveraged to do that, of course finally account blow out, that's the worst stupid fail trader. Thanks for sharing this shameful trade. Hope I got it can never break the rules again... although not easy...
I think I learned the same lesson today but at a much smaller scale. Better now than later.
<scratching head>
Great Video Lesson. You covered ALL the mistakes I made during the 1st year of trading. Since starting to REGIOUSLY follow the rules, I have stopped losing large $$$. Thank you and have a blessed Chanukah.
I must be having bad luck or am doing everything wrong. I'm learning a lot though. Was it like that for everyone else?
0. no trades when stressed out or weekly target reached 1. exceeding the max loss % per trade triggers immediate cover 2. cuba is a closed end fund, Michael Goode did a good recap on a webinar, why it is not acting like a pump and dump 3. I wonder what other guys in Twitter did tell around the trade, what the sentiment was. still a lot to internalize, thanks Tim!
Thank you explaining your loss in detail. remainder for me to follow your rules all the time.
Losses are the best lessons to learn from and the bigger the loss the better the lesson is learned!
good lesson! thanks for sharing and yes, it sucks to lose!
Tim, sorry to hear about your loss. Thank you for sharing your experience. I do freak out too! Thank you for the lesson.
That sucks. Weird phycology stuff going on. Maybe that was your reset button.
I respect that you make this public. Your honesty says a lot about you and what you stand behind. Even the best traders screw up from time to time. If it were easy everybody would be rich.
It was a little low, Brother Tim, and your size was way to large. I have a alert for an eval @ $15. A great lesson and huge props!

I used to think you were all about the money, but I am humbled that I was wrong because this video shows that you care about peoples education more than you care about selling more dvd's or getting more subscribers. You could have hidden this trade and nobody would have known. Mad respect for your honesty I am glad to be an anual silver subscriber...You the man Tim! ;)
sux. saw your video on this earlier and thought of you when the ceo sold 200k shares today. he knows this is a pos too. alerted in the forums as soon as i found out, hope you were able to short it then and recoup your losses...happy holidays
Tim, I gave you 5 stars. A+ for transparency.
Respect the transparency
you teach short pump and dumps and buy earnings winners. I am confused because You played a news play. When I did this with DGLY on Ferguson news you reprimanded me in the webinar . Not the trades you teach broke your rules. Lost a lot with the avg thing recently myself. Good lesson on what happens when you don't cut losses quickly.
@cwood Definitely. Awesome comment ;)
Transparency at its best !!! Never add to losers - great advice !!!
Tim, Many times what we perceive as an error or failure is actually a gift. And eventually we find that lessons learned from that discouraging experience prove to be of great worth. I value your mentor ship.
Understood what you did....and WHY it was wrong! Thank you for educating us and explaining to us just what to look for in a chart. Sorry 'bout the loss, but just proves how important the education and knowing what to do can do for us all.

Thanks for sharing that tim, good to know your losses... I can really learn alot watching this. It really relates to me and probably everyone on the challenge program since we all feel those emotions and wanna trade like you. Im pumped, great to see you honor your trading transparancy promise. Awesome lesson i think everyone should watch.
Respect man. Tnx for the sharing.
Invaluable lesson. I'll "manage" losses by cutting them asap, especially after watching this. Doesn't that fellow Tim Sykes teach this safety method?
Thanks for your honesty.
Thanks for the lesson, Tim. Hard to swallow, yet reminding me to stay true to the rules and discipline.
Watching this again so that your loss will be my educational gain. Thanks again for the transparency. Bookmarked!
watched!
Excellent lesson! the run down of the trade convo with the broker in instant message was like watching a movie but much better! it is a privilege that Tim made this lesson out of it since he did not alert this trade yet still made a lesson for his students to learn what not to do, the key take a ways here are do not short too early, don't average up, and do not forget to cut losses quickly also always be aware time of day matters, the time might not be the ideal, stick to rules that protect (y)
Ouch. Great lessons here..
Its okay to loos, but NOT to loose BIG!
Learning from mistakes
Thanks for sharing your loss, Tim! Learned a lot!: Don’t panic; Don’t double up; Don’t anticipate a crack midday (around 1pm); Pay attention to the time you’re trading.
Very informational video on $CUBA loss. Big mistakes were made when you shorted before the intraday cracked by trying to save money by being early, not cutting losses, trying to nickel and dime it, and panicking when the stock started spiking. It would be risky to try and hold through the squeeze because you don't know how high it goes but that is when everyone covered. It dropped down to $12.70 soon after since all the buying was done.
TY Tim
great
yes
watched and learning.
Thank you Tim
Great freaking lesson!!!
Really good lesson
Swell
Lessons 2400 -2402: showing us your 10K loss on$CUBA(shorting before support cracked anticipating rather than waiting for actual event) thanks for this extremely valuable lesson.
Good video, Tim. Thx sir.
Cut losses quickly! Recognize what time of the day it is, Tim likes to short around 2:30-3:30pm. Short the crack not the anticipation of the crack!
@timothysykes when the thesis doesn't pan out get out and watch
